LMOS VOID Beta 0.45.0: Easy Mode Gets Bigger Controls and Only Four Visible Voices

LMOS tightens the one-glance creator experience with larger shared controls, an Easy / More tools switch, plain next-step navigation, and one approved visible voice set: Samantha, Tessa, Rishi and Moira.

Beta test updateThis article documents what is working now, what it can do for users, and the workflow we want real testers to pressure-test.

What changed

  • Renamed the default workspace switch from Simple to Easy.

  • Kept More tools as the clear door to deeper professional controls.

  • Raised shared Easy-mode controls to a larger ergonomic baseline.

  • Kept 48px touch targets for coarse-pointer/mobile use.

  • Added a shared grade 3–4 everyday-language target for navigation and help copy.

  • Kept common workflow actions behind What next? with one-sentence explanations.

  • Limited visible read-aloud voices to Samantha, Tessa, Rishi and Moira.

  • Removed unapproved Mediator voice presets and automatic fallback to unrelated system voices.

  • Mapped older saved Mediator voice IDs into the approved four so old projects do not break.

  • Updated LM Books to show only approved voices that actually exist on the current device.

The design rule

A person should be able to look once, understand what to do next, and use a finger, mouse or keyboard without hunting. The software can stay deep, but the depth should not sit in the doorway.

The voice rule

The user-facing voice menu is Samantha, Tessa, Rishi and Moira only. The lower-level local TTS engine architecture can evolve independently, but it must present approved LM voice identities rather than exposing every engine or operating-system voice to the user.
