LMOS VOID Beta 0.40.0: Public Beta, Real Office Files, Runtime Providers, and Everywhere Feedback

LMOS opens every working LM app except LM Video to the free public beta, adds safer Word/PowerPoint/Excel and Google Docs/Slides/Sheets interoperability, introduces Browser/Native/Remote runtime providers, and puts an urgent/issue/idea feedback path across the system.

Beta test updateThis article documents what is working now, what it can do for users, and the workflow we want real testers to pressure-test.

What changed

  • All working LM apps except LM Video are now labeled Free Public Beta.

  • LM Video stays In Development and cannot be activated as a public-beta app.

  • LM Word opens DOCX and exports standards-based DOCX.

  • LM Slides opens PPTX text and basic object geometry.

  • LM Sheets opens XLSX, XLS and CSV with sheets, values and common formulas.

  • Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets can be opened through the existing Google Drive connection by exporting to DOCX, PPTX or XLSX first.

  • Office imports create a project-history checkpoint before replacing the active workspace.

  • Pages, Keynote and Numbers now route to an explicit native-conversion requirement instead of a fake lossy promise.

  • LMOS now distinguishes BrowserProvider, NativeProvider and RemoteProvider capability boundaries.

  • A global Urgent / Having an issue / Idea feedback control is available across the application surface.

  • Older project schemas receive additive compatibility normalization only after a recovery checkpoint; newer schemas are never silently downgraded.

What beta does not mean

Public beta means people can use the working software on real projects and report problems. It does not mean every compatibility edge case, every font, every device, every provider integration or every specialist workflow has earned Genesis 1.0 certification. LM Video remains outside public beta specifically because the editor has not crossed that line yet.

Storage direction

Large originals should stay on a local drive or the creator’s own Google Drive whenever practical. Optional LM-hosted storage remains separate and must stay inside the established five-times verified direct-cost safeguard rather than silently creating an unlimited hosting bill.

The most useful feedback is not “I like it.” Tell us where you hesitated, what took too many clicks, what did not save the way you expected, and what would make this useful enough to return to next week.
